The five yellow columns supporting the balconies are the remnants of a billboard. The small floorplate permitted the two units per floor to have windows on three sides, and all units have outdoor space.
One of the design challenges was to resolve the problem of the “hanging entrance” made by the removal of the old Speer Viaducts. Other design challenges were to construct a new covered parking garage which addressed the buildings of Lower Downtown, the abandoned rail yards, and the budget.
BlueSky Studio was successful in negotiating Building Code Variances through the Chapter 61 processes, saving thousands of dollars without compromising life safety.
